Who We Are
All About Anna Lepeley, MS, CSCS, CISSN

'Passionate' is too weak of a word to describe Anna Lepeley's love for strength & conditioning and sports nutrition. She lives and breathes it. Anna is a certified sports nutritionist and strength and conditioning specialist currently working on her Ph.D. with Touro University International in the research realm of sports nutrition. Her dissertational work will focus on ergogenic aids. As a former competitive and aggressive inline skater, up until her early 20's, softball player, and a passionate weightlifter since the age of 8, Anna's active youth directed her straight into the realm of Exercise Physiology. Anna received her Master's degree in Exercise Physiology from Florida International University, specializing in strength and conditioning. Anna was also privileged to have great strength and conditioning mentors, David Sandler and Dr. Patrick Jacobs, throughout her undergraduate and graduate career as well as Dr. Jose Antonio who introduced her further into sports nutrition research. Anna holds a broad interest in Exercise Physiology and Sports Nutrition, particularly with post-rehab and pre-rehab strength and conditioning modifications for all populations, and supplement effects with females. Anna recently finished a ghostwriting project with former Olympic Heptathlete, Ali McKnight. She is a co-hostess on the Strength-Power Hour Radio Show & Podcast (www.sphour.com) with infamous co-hosts Dr.'s Jose Antonio and Bill Kraemer, a substitute co-hostess for the Performance Nutrition Show (www.pnshow.com), and a color-commentator for the Weekend Workout radio show. She is also the book reviewer for Sports Nutrition Insider (www.sportsnutritioninsider.com).
I grew up lifting with the big boys. I was benching the [45 lb.] bar like it was nothing at only eight years old. I intimidated boys in weight rooms in college. A transition brought upon from overuse injuries lead me to grasp the scientific knowledge and understanding required to prevent injuries and make the most of the journey to my desired goals. I didn't want to lift with the big boys anymore but I certainly didn't want to join the yoga/1 lb. lifting girls. I kept the 'hardcore' lifting approach that I was raised with to sculpt my body into what I desired. The control you have over your body is an art and it's a beautiful thing. I believe in a suitable medium on the continuum of "lean" body types. You have the extremely ripped body (like that of a figure competitor) and then you have the lanky (sickly model-looking) girls whose bodies lack substance.
The good news about placing yourself on this continuum is you're straying away from the extremely ripped look of a figure competitor and figure girls, train hard; they put their bodies through hell. You don't have to train as hard but you have to train much harder and eat in a much more pragmatic fashion (and skip out on the 'liquid and cocaine' diet) than an emaciated looking girl. It's safe to say you'll never see the Calista Flockhart-body type on the cover of Playboy!
I've developed a lifestyle for myself that I'd like to share with you that's dedicated and unsurpassed to achieving the ultimate feminine body, with the ideal proportion of toned physique. All thanks to the application of science. The applicability of science is amazing. I love its versatility. It's not just for the meatheads, figure competitors, geriatric populations or medically ailed. When it comes to applying research to your life, I believe in combining a purist approach with a realistic approach. You cannot exactly cut and paste what research says and apply to everyone, you really have to look at it from an abstract perspective. I discourage the guinea pig approach (doing whatever "that" person tells you without support from actual data from legitimate sources). I will not refrain to point out what I disagree with, no holds barred, regardless of who likes it or not. It's important to know what's real out there in a world full of fallacious information and gimmicks coming at you from everywhere. Welcome to the world of being a Femme Fatale.
